Diameter:  W: 240 mm (9.4 in), H: 140 mm (5.5 in), D: 195 mm (7.7 in)

I think not unless you have Proteus syndrome(think elephant man) then you could just pretend it was another growth

Someone needs to record Roger Waters with one of these.

I think your best bet would be to conceal it AS a type of hat. Did you check out that video clip at the link?

Throw a leather strap around it and cinch that bad boy on. Hell, wear a leather vest and chaps while you're at it and I'd bet money that nobody would f**k with you.

Looks cool.  They mentioned "interference tubes".  Somehow(?) these get L, R and Center to all have the same delay.  Not sure how this works.  I'm guessing there are patents on this stuff, would be interesting to know what's inside...

I aksed DPA a bunch of questions about the 5100 while back.  The front L/C/R triplet are coincident, for good 2-channel/mono mix-down compatibility as this mic is targeted primiarily at video applications.  As I understand it, all caps are omni based- the sL/sR back pair are baffled and near-spaced 406x.  The coincidently arranged front triplet uses interference tubes along with the baffling to provide directionality.  Designwise, the use of interference tubes on omni mics is the interesting and unusual aspect for me, the rest is clever packaging and conceptually not that different than an extension of the techniques many of use around here.

I was told that the front omni caps are different than standard 406x and the interference tubes are not available as replacement parts.. you can probably see where I was going with that.

As for a suitable hat.. form follows function:

Or maybe this route if using the dead-critter windscreen:

So you're saying that this system uses mics similar to the 406x's? I didn't realize that...
