It sounds like any USB battery will power the USBPRE 2. Personally, I like the Tekkeon 3450 but that might be a bit overkill in terms of size and capacity.

This may be difficult as according to the SD web site to do SD USB Pre 2 > iPAD you must introduce a powered USB hub in the middle to supply the SD USBPre 2 power as the iPad does not have enough power to do so - and power and data are on the same cable.

You may be able to splice the usb cable and have the data leads go to the iPad and the power leads got to a battery (I would think you would need to tie ground to both.

The other option ,easy albeit clunky, is to connect a powered USB hub in between the two  and hook the battery up to the hub.

Just curious about this - could you power the USB hub with a Tekkeon and then use it to supply power to both the Ipad and the USBPre2 ?

Depends on the hub but probably.   I would think the hub would only power the usbpre though.

Just out of curiosity, what application are you using to record on the iPad?  Am I correct that the iPad will only record at 16/44.1?

Has anyone successfully recorded with USBPre2 and iPad/iPhone?  I'm using a New Trent USB battery with a 500a port (for USBPre2) and 1a for iPad, it's powering both devices but not transferring data apparently.
