Title: Testing battery box voltage
Post by: lsd2525 on January 23, 2014, 10:29:15 PM
Got a battery box powered by a 9 volt battery. Two mini xlr 3 pin in, one mini xlr 3 pin out. How to I test what voltage this thing is sending to the mics? Have multimeter........tried checking across two pins in various combinations.....couldn't get a reading. Am I missing something?

Thanks, there is an on/off switch, but I'll try it with one of the mics plugged in

EVERY taper NEEDS a multi-meter! It will DEF get used and they pretty much last forever! My dad has an old Craftsman multi-meter from the 70s maybe? And I have one I bought in mid-90s :) Ive only had to change the battery in mine once, thats it, in all those years. And I was building my own cables for awhile and went to electronics school back in the day, and my battery lasted that frickin long 8)

Update: Finally wised up and realized that I got a mini xlr out to two stereo RCA cables with the mics. Plugged the mini xlr into one of the mic inputs and got 9.05v one the multimeter. Hell of a lot easier to use the leads on those than the male pins in the box
