Title: Popped My Tube Cherry & need interconnects
Post by: phanophish on October 16, 2014, 10:26:50 PM
Picked up a few "new" pieces the other night.  Grabbed a JOLIDA SJ-302A,my first Tube amp.  I also picked up ClearAudio Concept Turntable with a moving coil cartridge and a nice Cambridge Audio 615P Pre to run it.  So far im in love.

I do have a question though, any recommendations for best bang for the buck interconnects?  Really looking for something in the $40-60 range for a 1M cable.  New or used would be fine.

I got my cables for my turntable here. No issues...although I can't really tell any significant difference in the sound vs. my previous plain ol' cables.

They are very nicely made. I think I got the 1694 cable.

For unbalanced RCA cables?

Get someone on this board to build them for you. Check the retails space for cable builders.

Belden 1505F cable with Canare, Neutrik or Switchcraft connectors will be affordable overkill for the job.

Anything marketed as boutique or audiophile will not be any better, and most likely much more expensive.

If you want/need something faster, order from Blue Jeans Cable.

They use Belden cable and quailty connectors.

ixos are decent cheap cables
or make your own using home depot extension cord if you feel industrious.

congrats, tubes will change how you hear music.  For reasonable high quality cables, this seller on Facebook is an authorized analysis plus dealer and he sells things at a discount:

I bought a couple of oval one ICs for connecting longer runs for pretty reasonable prices.

Just wait until you get into rolling tubes...it has to be the most fun I have had with playback since I got my vinyl setup up and running!

here is another solid deal.  I bet you could get them at $80.  Above your price point but you wont need to upgrade any time in the near future

Roll your own. Use teflon mil. spec. silver plated, 3 twist with shield and choose your favorite RCA for termination.
