Title: DVD burner help needed!
Post by: Swampy on April 27, 2004, 06:46:35 PM
Hey all! For my birthday I got a Pacific Digital Dual Format 4x burner. It didnt come with any directions. ??? I put it in, installed The "installer disc" that came with it, and the Nero disc that came with it. It will play cds and dvds fine, but when I try to burn, it wont let me. It looks like this: Normally when you go to burn somthing, it gives you the options of speeds.. not now... Does anyone know what I can do??? I really need to burn some cds! THANKS!

alex;

what are you trying to copy? audio or data disc?
if it's audio, then i highly recommend you use EAC and not Nero.
if it's data, copy the files to a temporary folder on your hdd, then burn.

your screen shot looks like the "Copy Disc" section of Nero Express.  i wouldn't do a disc>disc copy.

hope this helps,
marc

This is one example, it wont burn anything... You would never copy disc > disc? You alway rip and then burn??? Seems like a waste...

alex;

it's strange that your Nero sees your drives, but doesn't burn.

yes, i extract before i burn. if it's audio, then i use EAC to minimize DAE errors. if i'm copying a SHN or FLAC disc, i do copy all the files to my HDD first.  in the past, i have tried disc>disc copy for SHN/FLAC discs, but have had resultant discs failing md5 checks.  i've heard that some drives will do that, so i basically copy all the files to the HDD first.

sorry i couldn't offer more help.

(http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/manuals/mo/atapi/images/master_slave_jumper.jpg)

1 is master setting
2 is slave setting
3 is cable select

I have my dvd burner as the master and the cd burner as the slave

hope that helps

Thanks man! So my DVD should be 1, and my other drive 2? What does "cable select" mean?

don't worry about cable select.  it doesn't apply to what you're doing.

go to control panel > system > device manager > dvd/cd rom devices.

what is your burner listed as?  are there any error icons next to it?
