Anyone know someone reliable in the US who can repair and re-wire Church and AT mics for reasonable cost?
I like my CA-14s in particular, but they are awfully fragile. One channel always goes out or becomes intermittent. Any suggestions?

If your Audio-Technica microphones are unmodified, I can highly recommend their service, at least here in the U.S.--they're very quick, efficient, accurate and (relatively) inexpensive.

It's really the Church mics I'd like to get repaired, especially without having to send them back to Canada. Aren't there independent guys out there who are willing to do a simple re-wire?

I've got quite a few mics, including Church Audio versions.
The problem with re-wiring is a lot of his stuff is sealed in epoxy (or some kind of hot melt glue?).Have to remove old stuff, rewire, and I guess, re seal them (with another kind of glue).
Nothing technical or difficult at all. Just time consuming and of course, need to ship somewhere. Also, if someone fixes them for you, they might break again.
Good luck anyway, Richard

This, more than anything, is why I finally switched to AT853s. CA-14s sound great, but the wiring is fragile as hell.

If anyone is looking to re-wire a pair of CA14's or CA11's send me a pm. I'm located in Illinois and turn a re-wire around within just a couple of days.

Good to know. I think all of mine are running right now, but I have an old pair that are definitely near EOL

How are you with fixing loose connections on a Church Audio pre amp?

I’ve never looked at one before, but I do have 20 years electronic repair experience. About 10 of which was component level repair.

Nice to have somebody covering this.
Would be curious, has anyone seen the inside of the CA-14?I think I know the capsule used, just curious. These capsules are in fact pretty good, just the connections fail after a bit I guess.

To re-wire the CA14 means to totally rebuild each microphone. There's really no way around it. And I wouldn't attempt it without a stereo microscope.
The picture I posted above was taken after I rebuilt the mics and re-terminated with a right angle 1/8" plug as requested.

Thanks Neutrino.
From what I have seen, Chris used black "potting compound", sealing epoxy for everything.Really messy to build with impossible to take apart.
LOL.

I have no problem returning CA14’s, omni or cardioids back to 100%.
