Title: amp and sub question...
Post by: pfife on December 28, 2005, 01:20:20 PM
Hey... I'm in the market for a new integrated amp, but I've run into a situation where I might be able to get an Adcom GF-555 for relatively cheap from a friend... my only problem is that my speakers really need a sub w/ them... if I get this Adcom + Preamp, what possibilities do I have for running the sub if my preamp outputs are going to the main amp?

thanks guys

splitters on your pre outs.

also, many subs can take speaker level.  I'm not positive on the cabling, but I think you can either run from the amp or speaker terminals.  its a very small load on the amp and I doubt you'd notice any drop in power to the speakers.

thanks +T  - I've also noticed that numerous models of preamp have 2 preamp outputs...

The vandersteen sub kicks some major ass and it integrates very well using the speaker tap off your amp.

I'd offer this guy $550: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?homesubw&1139157675
