Title: iRiver 320 tip positive or negative?
Post by: halpinian on April 03, 2007, 04:57:21 PM
My friend lost the charger that came with his iriver 320, so he bought a Coby 300mA Universal AC/DC Power Adapter like this one:

http://www.webcommunitysoftware.com/onlinestore/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WCS&Product_Code=WCS34956

He has one big question--should he put the plug onto the adapter as "tip-positive" or "tip negative"? Any help in keeping him from frying his recorder is greatly appreciated.

The tips on my h120/h140 are positive and I believe that they can use the same charger as the 320.

I have both a 120 and a 320 and they do not use the same plug.  The tip is positive for both.  I hear that these are fried rather easily so be careful.  There are one or more threads at misticriver that discuss powering these units.

The forums on http://misticriver.net may be your friend.

Thanks for the replies. I searched mystic river for quite a while before finally posting here. I've had some trouble using that site for my 120 as well. I guess I find the search results there mystifying. The TS knowledge base always pulls through with straight language. Thanks again.

You can also charge via usb to your pc/laptop at worst...that's what I typically do.
