mme power ?'s
« on: December 13, 2003, 05:01:16 PM »
so i got my mme today. revision c.

i have a power cable that is the standard 4 pin xlr > mme plug... i am going to be making a rc battery pack for my mme. so im just going to hack that power cable and use that plug and wire.

im basically a total newbie on building a battery pack for anything, ive only made one and it was for my ps2 (made with a 9.6v rc pack also)

as for the power cable... the one that is allready made and has the 4 pin attached to it, the wire with the stripe would be for the positive and the black wire for the negative? i dont have a wall wart yet to test wether the tip or the ring is supposed to be positive... a little help please

so i found the post in the archives about 4 pin xlr power cable pin assignments

this cable was used for a 12v. and the archive says:
12V: Pin 4 is hot (+12v), Pin 1 is ground (-)

and this is exactly how my cable is wired, the stripe being positive on pin 4 and black cable being on pin one

can anyone verify for me wether the tip or ring is positive for the mme? so i can double check before connectiing power!

shouldn't that be in the manual?

and if you don't have the manual perhaps try www.apogeedigital.com

i'm not sure how much this helped but i just checked my 6v cable and pin 3 is hot and pin 2 is the ground.  it might be a good idea to pick up a multimeter so you can check the continuity - you'd hate to let the smoke out of your mme before you got to run it.   :)

btw - congrats on the new gear.  the 480 > mme combo is sweet.

tip is positive, ring negative.  wire with the stripe positive, unstriped negative.  Any specific questions let me know.  I have an extra nimh cable if you want it that fits the mme.  I run mine on occasion off of 6v 4000 mah nimh batts but usually use the sla system since I run the mmp, mme and a d7 off of one 6v 10ah batt.

yeah, as in that post in the archive, the 6v and 12v cables are wired different like that 1 and 4, and 2 and 3

daryan, are you running that battery sled that has the c or d batteries that are 4000mah? i am just going to buy 2 3000mah batterys online and use the cable i have for right now

D, do you have an actual cable for the rc packs, or are you running one of the cables from rat shack with the adaptaplug on it?

Thanks everyone, +T's all around! i think this is really gonna smoke my wmod ua5 tapes!

I m,anufactured the cables, I have four of them I think...you can have one if you want it.  I bought my 6v's from batteryspace or something like that.  They were pulled from electrical fixtures.
