Online music collection databases?
« on: October 18, 2009, 04:00:57 PM »
Anyone using any of these places like rateyourmusic.com, discogs.com or analogapartment.com?

I signed up at analogapartment and discogs. It looks like the discogs db is a little better developed but I'm already finding holes in the discogs db as well. In the last few minutes these 3 have all popped up as missing: Norman Blake - Blackberry Blossom vinyl, a Blue Note Three Sounds Album, and now King Curtis Live at Fillmore West french Atlantic release.

None of these is a particularly rare or obscure record. I don't mind adding to the db's at these sites but does anyone have a feel for which has the most well developed db?

I'm wondering too if one site isn't better for jazz, another for americana/folk music etc.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia
