Speaker Cables
« on: January 28, 2004, 08:59:59 AM »
After my move, I need to get some new speaker cables, perhaps anyone knows a cost effective routes for DIY?? I used 10-base T cable in the past and it sounded pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone had other suggestions?? I'm refusing to buy the 60 gauge monster cable on principle.

I bought a couple hundred feet of the canare speaker cable....see the playback section for part numbers, relatively inexpensive (.41 a ft I believe) added on banana clips and the result was a HUGE improvement from the crap I had before...especially in the bass response, much more defined, rather than muddy as before!

If you go to any hi-fi store, they will likely have speaker cable in bulk  as well as connectors that you can purchase.  A lot of their markup comes from the labor cost of cold-welding the connectors on.

I have some Vampire Wyre at $4 a foot and silver spades as connectors that sound great.  The spades provide a tighter connection from the wire to the post than bare wire or banana clips.
