saw some talk about this unit a while back(yes Skalinder, I searched the forums with no luck

for those who have run one, is it transparent like a V2 or a little colored?
the price is right for these units($500 new) and am wondering if it would be a better pre compared to the MinME...not too concerned about the metering on either unit.

also, what would be a good ADC behind this?
in about another week or so I'll have about $1200 and am deciding between the MiniME by itself or a combo like a V2> SBM1, but of course all of the V2 and SBM1 seem to have been sold in the past 2-3 weeks

yes, I know I could get a V3 for _about_ that price but I'm not sold on the unit...yet

i'll sell ya on the V3  i've been using it since it came out and i absolutely love it!  though i've not used the mics you run, i'd be happy to send you some stuff i've taped with it to maybe give you an idea about its sound.

I think the TL's will sound best with a LITTLE coloration from the ADC side.
the V3 might be just a little TOO transparent/harsh for the loud rock stuff I would be recording...I dunno

I don't think the RNP is field powerable (if thats a word but if you don't need that then go for it, I use an RNC sometimes and it is a fantastic compressor for the $.  mercenary audio sell them and I believe has a trial period for gear so if you don't like it send it back . . .

Flexible power supply requirements. The RNP will run off of either AC or DC as long as the voltage range is within 9-12V (and has a current capacity of at least 1.5Amps). Polarity of the wallwart connection is unimportant so that you don't have to worry about that detail either. In addition, if you happen to connect a wallwart that doesn't have enough oomph to power the RNP (like the RNC's wallwart), the RNP will tell you by periodically flashing it's front panel LEDs.

i've run neumann KM140's, KMi84's and, just recently, the soundfield ST-250, but that didn't work out so well because i'm so new to it.  the neumann's tend to have a flat response, so i guess it's "what you hear is what you get."  maybe not what you're looking for?

the problem with this is unless the mics are located at your ears, you arent hearing what your mics hear at a show.
been to many a show where the sound was muddy to my ears, but the recording was crystal clear and the mics were only 3 feet above my head at the same location. . .and vice-a-versa!

sorry.  i probably should have been a bit more clear in that statement.  what i meant was, basically, the sound that goes into the neumann's, then to the V3, then to your deck is pretty darn close to the sound the mics were picking up during the show... if that makes any sense.  maybe someone else can explain it better than i can

i think you just might like my recording from the last time they came through pittsburgh.  well, it is loud, but it's not muddy and the percussion isn't too overpowering
