« on: January 19, 2011, 11:02:43 AM »
Im looking to do some recording into my computer.I already have software what i am looking for is a way to record at least a full drum kit with seperate tracks thru a USB device. We used to have the Alesis i0 24 but it was Firewire and rarely worked and Alesis was no help so we have Sold that and are looking for a USB device.Preferably with compressors built in.Recommendations appreciated!

I've spent a while looking at what the market has, and there isn't much else out there if you want all those analog ins.  Other boxes will have 8 inputs, and then you add more by adding external preamps via ADAT.

Gonna order one for $209 from B&H.Pretty cheap hopefully it works better than the Alesis did.

I mostly use the 9/10 line inputs for synths & bass guitar. I've run mics through the pres & they sound fine, though of course not top notch level. If I am going to use a mic on something, I bust out the V3 & run the coax out of the V3 into the Tascam.

The only issue I had with it was this weird static noise that I could NOT get rid of when I 1st installed the device. Took me months, but eventually figured out there was a conflict with my PC's wireless card that was causing the static. I disabled the wireless, and it's worked like a charm ever since. Highly recommended.
