Sorry to ask a newb question but if I were to run stereox1, no phantom, what could I expect as a current draw (ma) with AKG's? I am trying to find the info., but I haven't had any luck. My main concern is having adequate batteries for the upcoming festy season where I will be running only one pair of mics for most of the time through a preamp and analog in.
Mics: AKG c460b (ck61, ck62, ck63, ck1x, ck3x), NBob Actives, Naiant Actives, ADK A-51TL
Pres: Lunatec V2, Sound Devices MP-2
Cables: GAKables exclusively, AKG MK46, Naiant PFA's
Recorders: Edirol R-09HR, Edirol R-44
CPU for DSP: Toshiba Satellite A660 i7 > audioengineD1
Cans: ATH-50
VINYL: Rega Planar 3 > Rega Brio-R > Wharfedale EVO2-30

Sounds like a question for TGakidis.

Thanks Andy, Ted has been summarily paged....

I know that my 460's draw 1ma which is fuel-efficient as far as mics go, but I wish the manuals would give more detailed info on stuff like this.

What type of external power source are you thinking? Regardless, don't forget reverse polarity for cables. Our cable builders know this. With 2 sets of mics on phantom, including 460s and power hog STOs, I've found a 5400mAh DVD battery will still have >~80% left after a two band 4hr show.

My battery situation is the typical collection of DVDs and Tekkeons. I am basically hoping to be able to run the deck for at least 12-15 hours.

Yep, those are the type of numbers I am seeing, and 4-5 hours seems to be the average with running 4-channel, and all variations of such. This is great news for the individual shows, especially with dual cables.

FWIW, I regularly get 6-8 hours from a 5400mAh DVD battery running 4 channels of phantom (including a pair of LDC's) on my R-44.  YMMV.

Just FYI, and nothing extremely scientific...

Well I am doing some battery tests running stereoX1 (akg460`s <1ma per), 24/48, no phantom, all lights and features on. I burned through the first dvd battery (5400mah) in @ 11 hrs. This gives me a rough calculation of @ 490ma power draw. With the dual dvd system in place I went through a 16 gb card (16hrs) with no problem, and I have inserted another 16gb card to see how long this will actually go. I am down 1 green light on the 2nd battery, and I have been running for 3 hrs thus far. These results are very encouraging, and means that festival season is covered.

Do these M-tip & B-tip plugs from radio shack solve the reverse polarity issue for powering the R-44 or do I need to get a custom cable ?

so, the m tip from radio shack fits the r-44..?

yup.

Those tip cables from ratshack work because there is a polarity mark in the cable and a pin mark on the tip, so you just have to attach them accordingly...
