need help selecting affordable editing program
« on: August 20, 2004, 08:16:09 AM »
I'm in need of some advice on an editing program so i can easily transfer live recordings from my sony pcm-m1 dat to my pc hard drive. I have recently purchased a M-Audio Delta Dio 24/96 soundcard.
Next i need a good program to spilt the tracks and put in some fades. I've been reading about Wavelab 4.0 & SoundForge, but i really can't afford a $400 dollar program. Is there a less expensive route that will work for me? I was looking at this scaled down version of SoundForge,

but this version says it supports only 8 & 16 bit. I'm really confused_ ???_any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
Jim

You can use CD Wave for splitting the tracks.  It could also be used for the recording itself.

I like CD-Wave for cue sheets.  Audacity is a free editor.
