ecocharge power cables: mini-xlr to 4 pin xlr
« on: September 02, 2004, 12:27:07 AM »
Ecocharge tells me they cannot get the parts to make the conversion kit anymore.
does anyone have one of these or know how to make one or make a power cable?
I need a mini-xlr cable for the D8/SBM1.
if you have one that needs a home, let me know.

thanks!
Robert

Is Eco Charge really saying they can't get the parts to make these??

All you need is a Mini XLR and a full size xlr. I'll post part numbers and directions in a few minutes.

I have a battery for sale that includes this adapter.

Building a mini XLR to full size 4 pin XLR power cable adapter.
This will allow you to connect power cables using the standard 4 pin xlr connector to older Eco Charge products equiped with a mini xlr.

6 Volt Systems

Parts:
1 Switchcraft TA3M (Mini 3 pin XLR-M)
http://www.mouser.com/catalog/619/701.pdf
1 Neutric NC4FX (Full size 4 pin XLR-F)
http://www.mouser.com/catalog/619/698.pdf
1 length of cable

Directions:
for a 6V system
Connect the full size XLR pin 3 (positive) to mini XLR pin 2
Connect full size XLR pin 2 (negative) to mini XLR pin 1

here's the email I got from them:

We no offer this mod as the molded pieces are no longer available. We will
have a completely new 6V system available in late Oct/Nov. Please check with
us in a few weeks for an update.

Thanks,
EC

I think they just want me to buy a new battery system.
thanks for getting the info together!

No problem.  I understand their desire to sell products but I can't believe they would actually go as far as to say that the parts were not available to build these adapters.

If you're interested I still have a mini to full size adapter for sale $55 includes a free Eco Charge battery  ;)

Joe

thanks for the info!
I didn't realize it was just a simple plug to plug adapter.
yeah I can't believe they said the parts weren't available now that I know what it's made with.
good deal on the battery but I've got 2 now and may be selling one myself after I make the adapter.
