Here are my choices, you opinions make a big differance.  AT853rx mics
1. Mixpre>M1 around $900
2. Mixpre>SBM-1>JB3 $800
3. Mixpre>JB3 $500
4. Mixpre>modsbm-1>JB3 $1000

I have a JB3, but what would be the best per money.

How about:

Denecke PS-2 > Denecke AD-20 > JB3  $300.00

Rock solid sound.  Have the JB3 and AD-20 inside a waist bag.  I clip the PS-2 to the Belt of the waist bag.

I ran the MP2->mod SBM1 with the RXs for some shows and liked it...however for bassy shows, I found that instead of running the mod sbm1 (had the warm mod), I was better off using the D100 (same as the M1) A/D in that the end result was not as muddy.....but the presence mod to the sbm1 that doug does now produces a much cleaner sound from what I have heard thusfar for some of those bassy loud shows.  Honestly though, the MP2->D100 will produce solid tapes...

i ran km140 > mp2 > m1 stealth, and it's a damn fine combo.
