Topic: Sound reinforcement help

This might be beyond the scope of "ask the tapers"..

Our Church is looking to upgrade its sound system.  It is dated 20 years, we have problems, and we have money so we need something else.  Our room is basically a long rectangle.  Does anyone have any suggestions to get this room sound good.  I'm not really looking for a model #, but a concept.  For example, one guy said we should run 4 little speakers, two on the stage, and two about halfway back.  We get some reflection off the walls.  I'm open to suggestions, and since I dabble in audio stuff they thought I might help this program along.  Here are some pictures of the room.

This is from the back.  The room size is 76x46.  The chairs, around 280, are made from cloth with a foam pad.

What kind of speakers are in those enclosures?

Church's always have good money to spend on a stage/audio   

We designed one for our church, ElectorVoice makes these small enclosures that we painted the same color as the back wass (tan) and then hung two pairs on either side of the stage with a small degree of array (10-15deg).  That sounded a ton better than the floor mounted ones they had because 1:  Stages tend to be hollow and produce a lot of hum if you have a PA standing on them 2:  It clears out the clutter on the stage. 

We find that church applications don 't necessarily need a sub.  And if they do, it's a band that's going to bring their own (ie, kick drum, bass rack)...

I don't know.  I talked to the buy who wired it all up and he said it was a 15" and a 60 degree horn and was bought in the early 80s

i've used these in the past.  good for even coverage throughout the room.

The idea of the 4 speakers is a good one, you would need to run the fill speakers that are halfway back on a delay though.  Easy to do really. I dont know that they should be "little", I would stay with the 15" up front, then use a smaller unobtrusive speaker for the fills.
