This is from a friend below, want to see if yall could help out. Buncha geniouses here, and it helps me learn too. THanks!Ray
So, I downloaded (bittorrent) the Gillian Welch - Telluride show off DaD.
The uploaded didn't make it clear that it was 24 bit audio
version (there has subsequently been a 16 bit seeded, but...).
Figuring I'd give it a shot, I installed Audacity to resample from 24 to 16
bit.
The files are in FLAC format, so it appears that one needs to convert from
FLAC to wav before uploading to Audacity correct? If I uploaded the FLAC
files, it converts to mp3 and I couldn't find a setting to change that.
So, I've converted to wav and uploaded. Each track has it's own "window"
w/in the larger application window. I click on the drill down menu that's to
the left of each track and set the sample format to 16 bit (default is
32-bit float),
and the rate to 48000hz. Two questions here:
- I've always assumed that 44000hz is the standard, but when I converted at
that rate, the speed of each track was way slow.
- Is there a way to set each track at the settings I want all at once
instead of
having to do them one at a time?
So, after all of that, it didn't seem to work as the files I "resampled" are
still at 24 bit. Feurio recognizes them and usually converts (both from
48000 to 44100 and from 24 to 16 bit) however, I'm getting an error when
I try to burn:
Error when reading source file: Undefined error: -80
ErrCode: 17/-65/1/01/00
Again, my feeble brain is stumped. Can anyone lend a hand?
