CD Wave Editor 5.1 surround question
« on: July 06, 2005, 01:24:37 PM »
hello all, I am new here, and was browsing around, and figured this would be a good place to ask about CDwave. If you do not know, it is basically a program that splits and edits wav files the way you like. It is available here:

http://www.milosoftware.com/cdwave/

The question I have is, how does the 5.1 work?

When you are done editing a wav, select the "save" option from the file menu:

Then, you get an option for "Select Output" where you can choose where to save the wav. On the side, there are options "output mode", then "WAV format parameters", then below "frequency", then "channels". Under "channels" there are a few options: mono, stereo( L+R), quad stereo (LRFB), and Dolby 5.1:

I would really like to use the Dolby 5.1 feature and apply it to some of the wav files I have on my HD, however, I don't seem to be getting any positive results. When I apply the Dolby 5.1, I get a message that says to convert the wav to mono, then convert the mono to 5.1. When I do this, the resulting wav (which is supposed to be 5.1) is just random clips of noise.

Can someone please help me to correctly use this feature?
