In the field I assume...

Mannybones is using the MOTU Traveler, I have seen some of the FOH folks with MOTU 828s, but I don't see many laptops at shows. The few I do tend to be windows based.

Are you considering using a laptop for recording in the field?

As Wayne indicated, I've just recently started using the MOTU Traveler (firewire) at shows, with really good results so far. Running multitrack was a snap. I think the pre-amps are a bit weak; but the unit was so easy to set up and use

I've seen a couple of people at shows using other USB/FIrewire interfaces. Both had 12" Powerbooks, one using a MiniMe via USB; and the other using what looked like an M-Audio Firewire 410.

I used the Metric Halo MIO or the Metric Halo ULN-2 for the better part of 2.5 years.
Out of the game … for now?

if i wanted to use my powerbook to record at some point, what would i need besides the powerbook?
i assume you could just switch out the recorder for the powerbook and add in some sort of digital > firewire convertor????
what program(s) would you need
thanks
