DAT to Computer Audio Transfer
« on: September 24, 2005, 02:56:44 AM »
Hi! Newbie here.  I need some help and guidance please.

I have inherited a dat recording setup and need some help figuring out how to do an digital audio transfer to my desktop computer.

my setup: CSB w/ battery box+filter, Denon dat dtr-80p

Right now I have an Audigy 2 ZS audio card, and I don't think that'll work. At least I haven't read anything stating that would allow me to transfer over.

Do I have to get a compatible spdif sound card?
I think the answer is going to be 'yes'. I was looking at the m-audio 2496, or the audiophile usb...  before I jump in, I wanted to ask you guys.

Don't rule out DDS drives either... after transferring via a Zoltrix Nightingale at 1x for about 5 years having transfers on the DDS drive at 2.5x is an amazing upgrade!  Pain in the ass to install and configure, but once it's working it's solid and quick... noticeably better error correction, too.

rustoleum you got me thinking...
Would a jb3 work to do a digital dat transfer over, and then upload to computer?
Or would I lose sound quality in doing that?

jb3 works great for bit-perfect transfers -- I did this many times with a sony m1>7pin/optical>jb3 --
