Wavelab shifting my farking track marks
« on: November 23, 2005, 03:06:42 AM »
Anyone had this happen? I'll take the original file, put it/them into a montage, track it out, and render to a Basic CD or new montage. But when rendered, all the track marks are off by a few or more seconds. What the !@#$! is going on??? ??? Could it have something to do w/ going from 24/48 to 16/44.1?

I think when you do the CD track process , it is normal for the markers to shift a bit...ive read that somewhere..It doesnt cause any SBEs I dont think....Theres a thread on it somewhere.

I've had it WIPE the track marks - in fact, I've yet to figure out how to get them to "stick" when I resave the file (do they only stay put in .wav rather than mp3?)  Anybody have any clues on this related prob?

No answer, but just to say - yes - I have had something similar happen....

the correct process is

open the marker menu, drop in a "cd track start" marker, for all the tracks do a "splice" marker , and in the end do a "cd track end" marker. make sure that the "quantize to CD frame option is checked. I think when you click "save as" there is the option to save the markers.
Have no idea about MP3,as i dont use it.

24/48 to 16/44.1?

I have found if you do bit rate and sample frequency at the same time all the markers are worthless.  What I do is convert to 24/44.1 first and then dither to 16 bit and create a new file, make sure you check the copy markers option.

24/96 > 24/44.1 > 16/44.1 (UV22HR, new 16 bit file, copy markers)
MK 4V > KCY 250/5 Ig (KS 10I)  > VST62IUg > 722

+T fozzy. Yes, that does it. I have found that when working w/ native 44.1 files and then dithering (I use L2) the track markers stay in place. However, if at a higher sample rate they shift all over the place.

Much app'd.
