Bizarre FLAC error
« on: January 10, 2006, 10:35:35 PM »
Trying to FLAC a 9:36 minute song.  IT is a cassette transfer that I am doing at 24/48 into Wavelab.

The .wav sound fine, but when I go to FLAC it I get the following:

flac 1.1.2, Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005  Josh Coalson
flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.  This is free software, and you are

options: --delete-input-file -P 4096 -b 4608 -m -l 12 -e -q 0 -r 0,6 -V

Press any key to continue . . .

WTF is that Sigma Spade error?  The resulting FLAC file is only 5kb and won't play or unFLAC.  Do I retransfer?

EDIT: Quick follow up.  I tried to open in CDWAVE and it told me the header was f-ed up so I overwrite the header and re-save.  Still no FLACy-FLACy.  ISn't there something about choosing "alternate 24bit"?

the alternate 24 bit thing is for saving 24 bit files in cd wav.check the option if you are working with 24 bit files.

the errors are normal..i get them every time.. FLAC frontend is just telling you that there's unnecessary junk in your .wav file.

DarkStarJedi,

As was mentioned, your file contains a "PAD " chunk.

I did not mention this here [yet], but you can also use the audiohack.exe program to remedy this.  It skips any "PAD" chunks as it is only interested in writing the RIFF header and the "data" chunk.

Running the program was discussed in this thread: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=53521.0
