Topic: Behringer MX802a mixer problems

so i have a behringer eurorack mx802a mixer, i know a few of you here have this same model. also have a friend running one i am talking to about this also

i am getting a horrible hum from anything i try to mix with the mixer. wether it be just 1/4" inputs from an amp, a mic using phantom power, or a mic that is internally powered

i am using the rca "tape outs". there are also 1/4" main outs, a left and a right. havent tryed using them yet.

my friend who has a band uses his to record at home, and uses some mics to mic each amp and so on, and doesnt get any hum at all... using the rca "tape outs" just like i am

any ideas?

ive tryed it in like 5 different places, from garages to my house

i have had it for quite awhile, used it a little with a local bandm then they kinda fell off the earth... now wanting to impliment it into my current rig to make some tapes of another great local band

think maybe my mixer is defective? is there any settings on the entire thing that might cause a hum?

thats wierd ... i'v used the same model i few time (using tape out), im thinking it defective too.

do you think behringer would do anything about this? i bought it through musiciansfriend.com and got some kind of a warranty, il have to dig it out, if i can find it

would i have better luck with the vendor or the company?

Musicans Friend deffinatly... Behringer kind of has a reputation for having poor customer service. I emailed them once and never heard back...
