Topic: Quality affordable A/D converter for soundboard recording

What's a good quality affordable ($200 or less range hopefully) A/D converter to use running from a soundboard into a laptop?  I'm usually running 1/4" or RCA out from the boards.

There is a midiman flying calf (20bit a/d) in the yard sale right now which would definitly fit in your budget with money left over.  1/4" in, spdif/coax out. 

Other option in your price range, stock sony sbm1. 

Yet another option in your price range, graham patten adc20.

I'l sell you my Tascam US122 ( does 24bit/48kHz via USB very reliably and is bus powered ) for 125 bucks shipped.    it has XLR and 1/4" balanced inputs.

Do you have a  digital in on your computer?? If so the Flying Calf would be great. If not I'd be looking at the tascam. It gives you the ablity to adjust levels and hooks in thru the USB to get the digital stream into your computer.

Something like the Tascam is what I was looking for.  Goodcooker, do you have the 122 or the 122L?  The L series can do 24/96 and is on eBay for $125 shipped.

I have the older Tascam US122. I didn't realize the new model was priced so low.
I paid 199.00 new 2 years ago. I would let you have it for a song to help fund the new V3.

I only have normal analog in on my laptop so the Tascam is looking nice and it's priced well.  Does it have 1/8" inputs also, or only 1/4" and XLR?

I saw that, but I'm really interested in the Tascam because it does 24/96.  I'm getting for church related stuff and I got the go ahead to purchase it.  Just have to wait a day or so for funds to clear.

Since it's not my money and this is not something that is absolutely necessary to our function I'd like to stay on the lower price end if I can.  I see numerous Tascams on eBay new and AFAIK Tascam is a good brand so I can be fairly sure I'm not buying junk.

I got the go ahead and ordered the Tascam 122L today.  It will be a week or so before I really get to use it.  I'll post some results.

Got it in the mail yesterday and am trying it out.  It seems to work nicely, but It's only giving me a sampling rate of 44.1KHz.  Does anyone have an idea why?  Do I need a firmware update or something?
