Verizon FIOS port forwarding
« on: July 09, 2007, 10:51:57 PM »
Does anyone here have Verion FIOS modem/router model ActionTec MI424WR that can help me with port forwarding?  I think I'm a retard.  I can log into the router and get to the port forwarding, but I can't seem to get the settings right so that the light goes green.  In the Port Forwarding area, I click on Add.  I get this screen with the following drop downs:

1. Networked Computer / Device - I selected my computer name from the list

2. Protocol - I clicked Add.  I got a separate screen where I typed BitTorrent under Service Name, clicked Add Service Ports, selected TCP under Protocol, Selected Range under both Source Ports and Destination Ports, and filled in the range of the ports I use for BitTorrent.

3. WAN Connection - All Broadband Devices

4. Forward To Port - Same As Incoming Port

5. When Should This Rule Occur? - Always

Finally, I clicked apply and it appears on the router that the correct ports are forwarded, but the BT light never changes from yellow to green, even though I have 11 peers and 7 seeds connected.  If anyone has successfully forwarded ports with this Verizon FIOS router, please let me know what I am doing wrong.  I have Windows Firewall disabled.

Do you have the same router?  I tried the instructions there, and no dice.

I definitely like FIOS as well, but I need to get this figured out.

Thanks.

I finally gave up and called Verizon's tech help.

Got a tech on the line (probably from India) - he was extremely helpful and walked me through it every step of the way.  And when we were done - my ports were forwarded.

Yeah I would just like to say that you all really really suck because you can get FIOS.   Grrrrrr!

Enjoy it!
