Topic: Multitrack w/ Audacity??

This might be a basic question, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Can I multitrack with Audacity? Basically, I'd like to do some home recording and lay down a few different guitar tracks, then overlay them on top of each other to make one cohesive track (Les Paul-style). Any ideas or advice?

This doesn't answer your question, but I recommend Reaper for what you want to do.  It is very good and very cheap.  You can try it before you buy it on the honor system:

Don't know about Audacity, but something like Garage Band (Mac only I believe), or Sony's Acid software ($60-70 @ Best Buy) would do the trick.  I've pulled if off with Soundforge, but it's not as easy as the others...  and it's much less "sophisticated" for this application...  I guess!  With the others, you have a multi-track recorder on your computer.  With Soundforge, you have a 2-track recorder with the ability to mix those 2 tracks together, then lay down another track and mix... lay...  mix...  ect.  There's not much sweeter than being a one man band at your computer station!!!  Well...  I'm sure there is......  if I remember correctly!!!  Don't get out much these days!!!  Let me know if you figure it out with Audacity...  that's free software isn't it?

audacity is (and always was) a multitrack editor. just add some new tracks with the menu.

manual? didn't know there is one for audacity. it has some quirks one wouldn't find in the manual anyway. just for fun try to draw an equalizing curve in linear mode and then save it under some name, close the eq-dialog and reopen it, load the setting saved beforehand. flat curve...

did I say already I love audacity?
