Teac A-3300SX 2 track RtR. Any idea of the value?
« on: September 26, 2007, 03:11:57 PM »
Hey. I am looking at a Teac deck for trade. I am trying to figure out the value or worth. I would get minimal use out of it as a mastering deck. I wouldn't be using it for playback of a collection. I only have a couple of reels and they are not worth listening to. I would use it on occasion as a mastering deck. Anyone have anything to say?

I have the 4 track r2r deck (A-3340) that is of the same series as yours, which TEAC put out in the 70's.  I also have many of the complimenting accessories, including a Model 2 mixer, the meter bridge, the aux mixer, and a few other random pieces.  That being said, I'm not really sure of their value, but I know that finding parts is extremely difficult, should something go wrong with the unit (most likely, it will.  These units are NOT reliable).  There is definitely some collector's interest in these units, FWIW; I have never looked into selling mine so I have no idea what kind of value they hold.

BTW, I have used my deck in the past simply as a dedicated tape reverb/echo for vocals on multitrack products and it sounds AMAZING.

According to the blue book value at www.audiogon.com (you need to be a paying member to get the blue book values), the Teac A-3300sx (doesn't say if it's 2 track or something else, but I'm assuming it is 2 track with the same model #...), was released in 1977, cost $900.00 new, and has a current used blue book value of $190.00. "High value" is considered $230, "Low value" is $120.00 (in Oct '06), and was last sold at audiogon.com for $120.

Awesome. That is about what I thought. $100 would sell me. $150 would do. Thanks for the leg work.
