You can always FTP in any browser.

type in: ftp://userid@some_host_name/

it will ask you for the password and then open up the directory.

you can. you want fireftp. to get it, follow these steps

open firefox (i assume it is open if you are reading this)

1 - go to "tools" menu

2 - select "add ons"

3 - whent the window opens, click "get extensions in the bottom right corner - this will open a tab in your browser.

4 - search for "fireftp"

5 - download and follow instructions to install

Another vote for FireFTP.  I can't remember the last time I opened SmartFTP.

well, i just told you how to get ftp on firefox. you have to go to the lma and follow the upload instructions there, but they are quite thorough, and you shouldnt have difficulty. and all you need before you go there is to have fireftp set up in firefox...

just remember you will have to leave your (firefox) browser open the whole time you are uploading/downloading...

so.  b/c of this thread I decided to try fire ftp.  looks great and seems easy to use.  however.....

I started a LMA upload about 11 o'clock last night.  I get 60+ kbs up and the show is 2 gigs.  I noticed that it was only uploading at around 50kbs.  not a big deal but not my max?  anyway I just checked it at 1 pm the next day and only 5 tracks have uploaded!?!  that is way slow!  something obviously happened or the show would have been finished or very close to it.  oh an it was still uploading when I checked it a few minutes ago.  so if I got kicked off it reconnected and started uploading again.  can't tell much if anything from the log either.

edit:

so I watched as one tracked finished uploading and it should have started the next track.  it tries for like 3-4 mins to start uploading, eventually disconnected, reconnects then tries for a few more mins to start the next track.  the only thing I changed in the settings was retry to 20 instead of 10 secs.

another edit:

decided to kill it and use filzilla like I have been to see if the problems were on the archive side.  I'm uploading at 60-70kbs with filezilla.

Thanks for the feedback Gordon.  I put it on my work and home machines (which both have filezilla)  I will give it a test or two, but I have been pretty happy with filezilla.  I sure would like to see them add a scheduling feature to the GUI though.

theres a few things about filezilla I would change but like it way better than smartftp.  I really like the layout of fireftp and hope I can get it working ok nut the first run was not so good.
