« on: January 07, 2008, 01:13:35 AM »
i'm in the middle of renovating my basement and am looking for suggestions on wiring my surround sound.  any suggestions on what kind of wire to run for my speakers?  any other suggestions on do's and don'ts from people who have done their own system?

thanks,

I'm probably in the minority here, but copper is copper, IMO.  :)  Just get a good 14-gauge spool and run it as far away from power lines as possible.

in wall or exposed?  I agree that copper is copper.  Just get something big.  14G or 12G is sufficient.  Is this only a movie room or are you using this system for high end 2 channel as well?  that would make a difference to me.  If that was the case I would use some higher end silvers for the mains (front two channels) and decent copper for the surrounds and center.
