i would say get the biggest stand possible and put it on the top of that, the full 17 feet or so.

or maybe just buy a cool clamp and make it up as you go along.

good luck

dont know really, mok3...

just would like to get the things off of my head if I dont have to be stealthing.

I assume for croded clubs, I am still better strapping them to  my noggin and finding a nice spot...

but when I tape guys like Nels Cline, I would think that having a stand and maybe spacing the omnis a bit more might be the way to go...

I have no idea how high I would want to be...

Yeah, you could get a big gooneneck t-bar and spread them out. Or clip one each to two different stands in the section for a little more spread.

search the rig pics section, NicksPicks posted some pics of the mount he used with his 4071's...

found the thread here

and these are the pics...

so would the "sambra shockmount" fit right on top of a stand like this..?

when you talk about the Jecklin, Mok3, are you talking about this..?

why do you want something deflecting the sound - I would think that you would want as much much of the mic exposed to non-deflected sound as possible. please explain...

thanks for the help, and the tips on the search.

oh, and if you use 'zilla as a browser, right-click an image and select "copy image location" and just paste in between the two "img" tags

Go to a Department Store (or anyplace that uses mannequins ... or womaniquins), and see if you can get one of the heads. The heads screw onto the bodies, but you may need to mod the thread in order to fit it onto your mic stand. Screw the head on, attach the 4061's to the glasses as normal, and put the glasses on the dummy head. You can attach a small velcro patch above each ear to insure that the glasses stay in place.

Make sure you give it a name and take pictures.

Also, someone posted this McGuyver-esqe job using a football on a stand the other day in the rig pictures forum. The mics are attached on the sides where the ears would be.

There you go Moke. Exactly what I was talking about. Is the head screwed onto the mic stand thread? did the head require any mods to get it attached?

nice pics BobbyH and mok3 - thanks.

is it better to use a disc or the head..?

which gives better seperation - the head or the square/disc?

I have an event I would love to try this on (because I know I can set up a stand, and the performance lends itself to this kind of thing). It is a week from Thursday, which should give me ample time...

the mics you use, mok3, to do the jecklin thang in the other thread are a helluvalot bigger than my DPAs. How big would the square have to be for those - I am guessing alot smaller than the 2x2 you used...

so mok3, other than guitar center (which I try to avoid at all costs) is there another place in the southland that carries this kind of stuff, or am I doomed to mail order only..?
