744>firewire drive?
« on: July 28, 2007, 07:54:37 PM »
Ok I connected an external FW drive to the 744.  Now I wanna drag the files on the 744>the drive.  How do I make this happen?

I dont own one..  but I dont think you can do this..   I believe you can set up an ext HDD to record to *through* the 7xx, but moving pre-recorded files to an ext. HDD might not be possible.. of course I could be wrong..

edit:..  welp.. after more thinking, can't you copy recorded files to the CF?  if so.. there must be an option to copy to EXHDD..  I think the drive must be formatted by the 7xx though..

I just click on the icon which represents the SD, highlight the music file and drag it to where I want it to be.  Just like any other file.  Your system should recognize the SD as a separate HD.  What are you getting???

If you are really in a jam call me and I will walk you through it.

Ooops!  Misread.  Never mind, you are doing something different than I thought.  Strike it.

you can do it. in the 722 menu find the number that says 'copy files' and there is an option to copy files from one destination to another, in this case INHDD>EXHDD. im 99.99% positive you can do it. but you cant drag/drop from windows tho i dont think.

its possible but you do it from the 722's menu ;)

You sure can do it. Do it from the 7XX menus. Set the copy flag for each file. Then copy over.
I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can

Thanks guys.  For some reason the 744 or my laptop (via FW only..usb recognizes) won't recognize the drive?  My home pc recognizes it both ways.  I'll have taperjeff take a look this weekend at the festival and see if he can bring it up.  Might be my newb factor.  Not the end of the world though if it won't.  I can still use my lappy (744>FW>lappy>USB>HDD) as the go between.

might need a better FW card on the lappy. that seems to have solved the most FW problems with the 7xx units......
