I'm in Denver...

head on over to cotapers.org or watch the co crew thread on here and we'll figure out some shows we both plan on hitting

there is no doubt that a DAT recorder will do a fine job, but there are other options. It is generally agreed upon that DAT is slowly being replaced as the main portable digital field recorder media. I highly suggest you take the time to read this thread with a question similiar to yours, it has a lot of questions as well as a lot of direct answers:

yes it is. I forgot to mention this one. A bunch of people use these, it records to an internal hard drive, so no tapes! Superlux > Mixpad > JB3 would be a pretty nice and cheap beginers rig!

"what would be the difference in this and getting the DAT recorder?"

the jb3 requires no media (blank DAT tapes in the case of a DAT recorder).

in order to make digital transfers to your computer (which I'm assuming you want to do) you will not need to buy a digital soundcard for your computer, instead you can transfer through USB or Firewire. You also don't need to mess around with the 7-pin cable situation.

JB3 has optical in just like DAT.

I'd recommend it over DAT, I use MD, but I started before JB3 came out out.

Is it the one I sent you, or is it this one?

http://www.nomadworld.com/products/jukebox_20gb/

Is their a difference between these, and out of curiousity, why would people prefer DAT over this?

chris.. you beat me to it!

So JB3 over DAT?! that seems more $$$ convenient for me!

But there are a few different NOMAD JUKEBOXs on there site.

I want to make sure I am looking at the right one.

Is it this one?

or this one?

The gb is how big the hard drive is, thus how much data you can fit on it... Do a search in the recorder section, there is a TON of info on the jb3. Also, look in the archive section, Im pretty sure that there is a thead on the jb3
