Wow!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I am thinking the 3369 extension pole.

The bogen c clamp looks as if you can only use the extension arm when clamping vertically.
Is that right?

The reason I chose the windtech c clamp was because you can change out the little stud
through the vertical hole and horizontal hole.

I dont know if you have actually seen the Windtech clamp in person.  I own them also, but they will not hold an extension pole of any kind.  The bogen quick release is much sturdier and bigger ooffering more surface area for better BOS ( base of support) footprint

Nope, that I haven't.

So I am thinking I will go with everyones suggestions.
Will I need any other adapters for mounting the pole to the clamp?
+t's all around everyone.

You'll need a Windtech if you want to clamp to anything vertical, like someone else's mic stand.  Its not quit wide enough to go around most pipes/posts though...  The Windtech can also be turned for horizontal surface, like table tops, armrests, railings, etc...

For your 393s, it will be perfect for most situations.

But I think for what you want to do, the Bogen QuikClamp, with the extension, is recommended.  The Windtech won't hold up.

However, the BQC only works on horizontals, so you'll still eventually need the Windtech.

I had to go with a Bogen SuperC for mounting my TLs, I just didn't trust the screw on the Windtech for holding that much weight...

Just my random thoughts on clamps...

Just an FYI - if you end up with a super clamp, I have one for sale here:

I love the super clamp + HD flex arm for seated head height shows.

Windtech is great for clamping onto other people's stands, but I agree it's not strong enough for an extension pole.

I have one of the Cardellinis... It will clamp to a rail or arm like no other... only drawback is it weighs a ton.

does anyone know if this flexarm fit in the clamp pictured below:

237HD Heavyduty Flexarm $25
http://www.adorama.com/BG237HD.html

work with this?
BG649 Quick release C clamp $50
http://www.adorama.com/images/Product/BG649.JPG

which looks to be the same model as this other Bogen clamp (only cheaper)

BG3346 $58
http://www.adorama.com/BG3346.html?searchinfo=bogen%20clamp&item_no=36

Also found this Adorama branded Super Clamp w/ Stud for only $18
http://www.adorama.com/LTPC.html

Anyone used the clamp below with the extension pole for theatre taping? Doesn't look like it would open wide enough to clamp to seats.
the Bogen Mini Clamp
http://www.adorama.com/BG2941.html

and Mini Clamp Extension $19 I guess you would use this to make a 90 degree turn?

The specs and pics tell a lot about the different gear posted and how it might work together.  Generally speaking, most clamps / extensions / mic bars have either a 1/4"-20 thread, a 3/8" thread, a 5/8"-27 thread, or a 5/8"-male stud.  Fortunately, it's easy to find adapters to swap between all those options.  But, of course, connecting two pieces natively without adapters is often preferable.

Per the specs, the Bogen 237HD FlexArm has a 3/8"-female threaded base, so it'll fit any clamp that can accommodate a 3/8"-male threaded tip, whether natively or with adapters to convert 5/8"-27-male > 3/8"-male, or 1/4"-20-male > 3/8"-male, or 5/8"-male stud > 3/8"-male thread (like the Bogen Rapidapter).

The BG649 C Clamp specs are a little more ambiguous, but from the pics looks like it has a 3/8" threaded tip on top of a 5/8" male stud.  So it should either work with the Bogen 237HD FlexArm natively (3/8"-male on the clamp + 3/8"-female on the FlexArm), or would require a conversion from 5/8"-male stud  > 3/8"-male thread (like the Bogen Rapidapter).  If, by chance, the threaded tip is actually 1/4"-20-male (doubtful, based on the following parenthetical comment), it would require an adapter to go from 1/4"-20 > 3/8"-male thread.  (FWIW, the gold-colored adapter at the bottom of the pic looks to me like a 1/4"-20 thread on top of either a 3/8"-female or 5/8"-20-female thread.  Can't tell since we can't see the bottom of the thread adapter, but I assume the adapter has a 3/8"-female thread for easy conversion of the native 3/8"-male tip to a 1/4"-20-male tip.)

As for the Adorama-branded SuperClamp, it has a reversible stud:  a 5/8"-male stud with a 1/4"-20-male tip, or a 5/8"-male stud with a 3/8" tip.  The Bogen 237HD FlexArm would fit on either - the latter natively (3/8"-male thread on the clamp + 3/8"-female thread on the FlexArm), the former with a 1/4"-20-male > 3/8"-male adapter, or either with a 5/8"-male stud > 3/8"-male adapter (like the Bogen Rapidapter).

As for the Bogen MiniClamp, I'm guessing it uses the same reversible double-ended stud as the above Adorama-branded SuperClamp, so the same options would apply.

Finally, yes - the Mini Clamp Extension allows one to make a 90º turn when the extension's slotted into a SuperClamp.  The tip of the extension is 5/8"-male stud, and what looks like a 3/8"-male thread.  So the aforementioned Rapidapter would work for sure.  But if it is, in fact, a 3/8"-male threaded tip, then no adapter would be necessary to connect the Bogen 237HD FlexArm.  On the off-hand the extension's threaded tip os 1/4"-20, again, you'd simply need to convert 1/4"-20 to 3/8" to attach the FlexArm.

So, basically, you can connect the FlexArm to any of the clamps listed, it's just a question of how.  The above's probably a bit confusing, and I mix up the different threads/adapters all the time, so feel free to ask clarifying questions.

For clamping to irregular surfaces (or to anything really) I go with the Pedco ultra-clamp

http://www.pedcopods.com/specsulc.htm

end is pivotable in two places plus rotates 360, so you can get any strange angle you need with it.

cost ya around $20 lots of sources online.

I'd also take a standard boom arm over the bogen extension so you don't have to be limited to sticking it to something with a lighting stud. You can also get a boom arm locally and skip shipping costs.

YMMV
