Hrm.. been a while. I wanna say you'll get 10 hours no prob. I also recall running it with a blinking battery light for many, many hours, using NiMH. Like 5+

So it could theoretically go for a full festival day?  I'm thinking MK5 (o) > PSP2 > M10 for hardly strictly.

I believe so, yes. I've definitely run mine at mountain jam for the entire day on AA's. If you have a spare sled, it's also super easy to swap between sets and I would never advise going to a show without 6 spare AAs in-case an individual battery fails.

I just so happen to have my PFA rig handy, so I'll throw my Imedion AA's on the charger and run a test today. I'll let you know tonight or in the AM how long I get.

Ok, I started my mk41 > kyc > pfa > psp2 > m10 rig at 3:20 PM this afternoon and it's still going strong at 3AM. No low battery light yet. I imagine it will die sometime overnight, but I think you can safely assume 12+ hours. This is using fully charged Imedion AAs. I used the slow charge function on my maha charger, fwiw, and the AA batts are at least 5 years old now.

9:30 AM... rig was still going strong, but the low batt light was flashing. That's 18 hours of runtime... it damn near outlasted the m10 which was down to one bar. I ended the test before seeing when it would actually die.

That's awesome that's almost exactly the same rig that I would use too. Can you tell me where you got an extra sled for the PSP 2?

^Out of curiosity, is that the same sled that a PSP-3 uses?  Looks similar.

6 batteries will go 10.5 hours at 48 volts before audio degradation takes place. if you  have dvd battery (9)volts and a special cable made for them ,it will last 23-25 hours depending on weather. heat will last less then a cool or better cold location.

I had a dual DVD battery from Ted for my V3.  I sent it back to him and had him put an adaptaplug on it so I could swap tips at will.  I currently have an "M" tip on it for the PSP2.  Sounds like I will be fine for festival season since I have 5 DVD batteries still.

to confirm 10 hours in the recommended time to switch batteries. AA sled holds 6 of them.

You can actually power the PSP2 using a 5V external battery pack, which are pretty ubiquitous because of cell phones. I found a compatible plug then spliced it to an old USB cable. My battery pack has 2 USB outs, one 1 mA for an iPhone and 2.1 mA for an iPad. I power the PSP2 off the 1 mA and my PMD-661 off the 2.1 mA. Both devices have the internal AA's in case the external fails, but that has yet to happen.

These days, you can get pretty slim battery packs that fit very nicely with the PSP2.

I seem to recall that when Vark gave my PSP2 a check up he put some kind of comment on the paperwork about how it didn't operate correctly at 5v input.  That was part of why I ended up with a 9v option.
