I thought Waves dither was the best...

IMO, it is ... though word is MegaBitMax is soon to be on a PC. That's the gold standard these days.

BTW, wavelab has UV22HR.
Out of the game … for now?

I use CuBase at work, so WaveLab makes more sense to me.
I used CEP before that and thought it was very easy to work with.

MegaBitMax

I took an online Dither comparison and in a blind test.....MegaBitMax was by far the best to my ears.

Problem Solved.

It WAS a renaming issue. After i selected the render button, I figured "create new file" was just as good as naming the new file. Wrong. You must select "Create Specific File" in the Rendering Preferences Box. Thanks for the help Rob and D. +t's

Just want to make sure that I have things correct.

In the "Rendering Preferance" Dialog box tab "File", I have the following selected:
  "Range" section, "Whole file": Selected
"Result" section, "Create new file" and "Copy markers": Seclected
  "Create specific file": Selected

When I select the the drop down below the "Rename as source" button, it opens the "Audio File Format" dialog box.  Are these setting correct:

Type: Wave (Microsoft)
File extension: wav (this is gray'ed out)
Audio format: PCM (uncompressed)
Channels: No Changes
Sample Rate: No Changes
Bit resolution: 16 bit
Attributes: Untitled

Thanks

found out yesterday that CEP will NOT pull a signal from the Audiophile 2496 s/pdif.
it will only pull a signal from the monitor mixer/wav out, not the actual s/pdif.
prolly not a big deal overall but I found this rather weird

I know this is a really really old post, but I'd like to disagree.  I pull the s/pdif signal off my audiophile 2496 with CEP just fine.

Options > Device Settings > Wave In tab > select M-Audio AP S/PDIF > check the Use This Device In Edit View box.

OK, so has anyone figured out how to do this in batch process mode?

I've done it in batch with the Waves Plugin. The far right button in the top row on the batch screen is for plugins.
Out of the game … for now?

I was referring to the UV22HR native to WL.

Eventually I'll have to try Waves as well. I understand it is a great sounding algo.

WaveLab users:

I'm trying to put together a simple guide for tapers using WaveLab to do 24bit/xx kHz to 16 bit/44.1 kHz conversions. What I have here is just the step-by-step process for using this software.

I've included  a .txt file I'm working on. I'd really appreciate any feedback I can get on this. If it is accurate, understandable, the most efficient way to work, did I leave anything out, etc... After I get some input I'll post it for general consumption.

Thanks in advance...

Chuck

Please do!
Since I couldn't attach a .doc file, I noticed my formating got messed up a bit.
I've used a condensed, handwritten version of this for a while now.
Unfortunately, it's only for v. 5.0a.

Edit: I added a formated .doc file in a zip file.

Does it matter if you re-sample before you convert?  I have been converting and then re-sampling.

dithering should be the final step.  do your resampling in 24bit.

just in case someone wanted to know how to use different algorithms for dither in the "batch" menu.

1. Open up the batch dialog (tools>batch processing), add the files you want to process with the folder button
2.) click on the button that looks like envelopes stacked up
3) you will see all the plugins you have installed. UV22 and UV22HR should be in VST(I like waves IDR)
4.) drag and drop the plugin to the left side of the screen, click ok, then run

I only wish they had incorporated POW-R 3 dither...that is my favorite by far.
