« on: May 07, 2006, 12:45:20 PM »
Need help transferring DAT to PC..........can't get a signal from DAT through software
I don't even get a signal with clicks or pops or static.......the meters flash once and then nothing

have searched for weeks in forums / websites.

using audiophile 2496 USB SPDIF Coax input
only analog output and s/pdif input boxes checked
I have recently done a complete fresh install and format of hard drive
have all latest driver updates and windows updates
have configured my system via musicxp.net
have tried different software (sound forge, audacity, wavelab)
have tried different cables and machines  (d-8, dap-1, DA-20 mkII)

yes, all the settings in sound control panel are set correctly
yes, have the freq. settings matching (48kh, 16 bit)
yes, have increased buffer size, defraged, etc.
no IQF conflicts, on yellow exclamation points under device manager
running pentium III  863mghz, 256 RAM

soundcard works on playback through media player & itunes.......

when recording........nothing

any ideas, tips would be greatly appreciated.......

Thanks

oh.........one thing of suspicion

under sound and audio devices tab/hardware tab/ when highlight audiophile and click properties, the driver tab lists:

M-Audio Audiophile
Driver Provider: M-Audio
Driver Date: 03/16/06
Driver Version: 5.10.0.5077

when i click on the hardware tab in the bottom right cormer of the desktop and select the audiophile card it lists this:

M-Audiophile DFU
Driver Provider: Nemesis
Driver Date: 10/9/03
Version 1.5.4.26

should the driver information not match ????  and why would they be different.....is this my conflict & if so, how do i fix it........

thanks again

do you have any other device you can send a Coax signal through to the soundcard?
JW mod AKG 460b (ck61/ck63 or mk46/ck1x/ck3x)>  EAA PSP-2 > 722

This may not help you at all but...

I used my ap24/96 card as an output for some speaker as my office playback system.  When I started recording and transferring I plug my PCM-R300 in to the IN digital coax and got no feedback from CD WAve or Soundforge.  I screwed with the m-audio setting for a while and found M-Audio Control Panel > Hardware Settings > Master Clock setting > S/PDIF IN and when I switched to that my problems went away.

You may not have that problem, but i sure did (a good hour of scrathing my head)

Life's a garden.  Dig it.
