Smart FTP question
« on: August 28, 2006, 10:26:36 AM »
I have recently been having trouble with Smart FTP.  My connection keeps timing out.  It will transfer one FLAC file then time out.  I used to be able to open my destination file, highlight my files and drag them over.  Any thoughts on this?  I have also tried right clicking in the destination folder selecting, "Upload->Direct" with the same issue.

Does this happen with a particular site or all sites to which you attempt connecting? In any event, I'd try switching the data connection mode (if passive, switch to active or vice versa). If that doesn't work, use the 'Queue" function. That way, if it continues to disconnect after each file, it will automatically retry & pull down the next file.

If you've recently installed a new Anti Virus program or upgraded to XP SP2 with the new Firewall option, you probably need to switch over to PASSIVE mode like Steve suggested.  When I upgraded to SP2 I had the problem for a while then found this recommendation online and it worked.
