Title: TRUE voltage output of generic DVD 9v li-ion battery...
Post by: bugg100 on August 14, 2007, 02:44:37 AM
I bought an  Audiovox specific battery stated as 9v at Target with charger for $9.75 us  marked down.  I need power for a digi-mod ua-5.

Problem is that with a multimeter it reads @ 8.4v across the terminals.  Is this what other generic DVD batts give?

Inside is the normal Li-ion cluster of 4 x 18650 and associated regulating circuit.  I took it apart to reverse the polarity at the board as the plug fits the UA-5.

TIA
Joe

Bump.

Do the Energizers exceed 9.0 volts really?

TIA,

I have a couple of the typical gray "Walmart Batteries".  One puts out 9.2V and the other 9.3V, charged a couple of days ago.  That's not under load...
Rayovac RV-DVD-03   5400mah LIon
generic EDV004SU      4500mah niMH

I ran my UA-5 off a tired old 12V SLA... after a long festival day the optical output died... I checked the battery with a meter right then and it was down around 6volts (I don't remember exactly).  But the point is that 8.4 should run the UA-5 OK.
