Title: FM Interferance on headphones....
Post by: Evil Taper on May 20, 2005, 05:06:48 AM
When other folks are sleeping I like to blast my movies on my studio headphones which I've got plugged into a rat shack headphone extension cord.  This works fine, except that the extension wire likes to pick up this weird spanish radio station from time to time.  Is there somewhere that I can buy a shielded wire of this sort or possibly modify this one to block out those radio signals?  Would putting better end plugs on the extension wire (gold plated maybe) resolve this problem?  Is there a techie guy here who can give me a quick schematic for building a shielded extension cable?  Thanks people!

No you must endure this as a penalty for watching T.V.

Try wiping down the plugs with a cotton soaked in rubbing alcohol.
Bad contacts can pick up radio.
If that doesn't do it, a torroidal core wrapped with a foot of cable should choke off almost any radio frequency EMI.

Good luck !
