Title: Looking for a pre to reduce the hiss on an R4.
Post by: salmonite on March 31, 2008, 01:45:40 PM
I am really happy with the recordings I have been pulling as of late with my current setup. The only problems My ears are encountering, is the Hiss I am getting on my R4's preamps. I used to not notice it as much as I do now, and I need to do something about it, so throw out some reccomendations. Thanks in advance.

times two
you can't get good clean gain out of the stock preamps past a certain point
let me know if you want to take mine out for a spin sometime when you're in town
The Busman mod was only 300, that comes out to 75 bucks a channel.

Cool,

I figured having Busman mod it would be the way to go. Plus for 300 bones, it is alot like a sore peter...
And Roger, I actually just sent the Nak300's off to Busman to put the mini male XLR's in there, so I could detach those tricky lil' cables that make those Naks such a pain in the ass to store after a few PBR's ;D Thanks and +T's to the both of you's guy's.

yep, I've only used the busman r4 and it is pretty darn quiet. I've had good success running for all acoustic bands with the gain wide open
