I've had bad luck with buying cheaper computer components, is there some tech companies known for high quality RAM? tia

I'll put in a good word on Kingston RAM. They have a lifetime guarantee - not lifetime of the chip, but
lifetime
. I had a 512 go bad on me that I bought a year and a half ago and was bitching to a friend that I'd have to lay out another $100 and my machine was crawling. Two minutes later I was applying for an RMA and a few weeks later I had a brand new card.

Mushkin is the absolute best, followed closely by Crucial. You pay for it, though.
