Title: New Caps
Post by: blu666z on July 25, 2003, 03:55:08 PM
I have a set of AT943s that I am very happy with.  I think they sound great and I don't really want to sink the money into a set of mics but I have been thinking about getting some extra caps.  Have cardiods right now.  Would it be a better investment to get some hypers or omnis?  I'm thinking omnis but not sure.

depends on what you tape... in great sounding venues or outdoors omnis rock, but the hypers are great from the section or indoors in a crappy room.

I have cards and hypers, based to the places I tape.  Omnis maybe next summer when I can use them outside...

I do more indoor, small room stuff at the moment so maybe the Hypers would be a better idea.

Still haven't bought anything.  Anymore input?  Never run omnis.  How does the setup for them differ?  Would I still run DIN?

I would say, hypers if you are taping indoors a lot...they make a world of difference in a crappy sounding room...is there a good sounding indoor venue ???

I have been in a few good sounding indoor venues, usually nice theaters that sometimes have music, like the Smith Opera House in Geneva NY.

I thought hypers were better for outdoors

I based that statement on this:

I have cards and hypers, based to the places I tape.  Omnis maybe next summer when I can use them outside...
