I have a Sager 5690 (http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/product.cfm?ProductType=5690) and have the dual battery setup. I can only get about 2hrs battery time total. This machine is a powerhouse and guzzles batteries like no ones bidness. Anyways, are there any options to power this thing longer (outside buying more batteries)? The power adapter plug is non-standard. I am not not very savy when it comes to messing with batteries/power supplies, etc. They make a car adapter. Is there a way to use that to hook into the Valence battery system or any other battery system? I would like to add at least 2-3 more hours of recording time if possible. Please forgive my ignorance. Thank you guys for any help you might be able to give.

Thanks. I am still a bit confused. Will it throw the recommended power and all that (I assume it will)? How do you get from the Valence > Female, is there a PnP type adapter or will I have to cut and splice? Can you briefly explain that process? Sorry again for the ignorance. Your help is very greatly appreciated.

For example:

Valence Battery > (Lead > Female???) > Car Adapter > Notebook

sorry.. by lead I meant sealed lead acid battery.

ahh. Gotcha.

Do you think this is the best option? Are there any other options?

I don't know shit about electricity and voltages/amps/batteries/etc.

Your best bet would to take a look at the output of your power adapter and base a battery system on that.

Also, to squeeze more battery life out of the machine look at lowering the screen brightness and cpu speed when recording. Unless you're doing realtime effects, you don't need a quarter of the processing power.
Even better - record with the display shut (set Windows to do nothing when the display is closed). This will conserve mucho battery power because its not running the screen at all.

Yeah, I can squeeze about another 30 minutes turning the screen off, etc. Still not enough juice though. I am going to write Sager and see what they might recommend. Thanks for your help and support. If you can think of anything else please do let me know. I would give you some of those ticket things (whatever they are) but I don't think I can yet.  ;D

hey martin. one again, good meeting you last night.
we never did discuss power at length.

i've got 2 valence n-charge batteries (10 hour model)
and i can get about 5-6 hours for my power hungry dell.

these are great batteries, a little expensive though.

check to see if they make an adapter for your pc and  grab one if they do!
