what is the dif, which should be used to tape live show does it matter you get the jest need to know these things before going out to buy mics.

hyper cardioid are more directional mics so if you are going tape inside ( interars) and have reflection from the wall they would act better to reduce side unvonted regections , the card are better in situation you like wider stero image or been very close to the stage.
for stero spared the hypers would act similar if they would be about 20% further then the cards( open space).
the hypers would take more sound from behind ( reflected sound or audience ) then cardioid .
nothing is to much 100% and sometimes you may suprise that one is better then another even if it brake the rules :-)

If you are using a coincident setup (two microphones that are not spaced apart, but merely aimed in different directions for left and right), supercardioids or hypercardioids will generally give a more evenly distributed stereo image than cardioids, which tend to bunch everything in toward the center in most coincident setups.
It's important to check the frequency response curve of any super- or hypercardioid microphone that you are considering buying for music recording. Some manufacturers assume that highly directional microphones will be used for dialog recording (film and video sound) rather than music applications, so they roll off (reduce) the bass response of the microphones more than you would probably want.
