Mic burn in period?
« on: July 11, 2005, 09:05:45 PM »
I know that DAC's and Amps usually start to sound better after a burn in period, is the same also true for mics?  I've got a new pair of schoeps sitting here and was wondering if I should get them a little workout before I use in the field. I'd assume the amp on the mic would benefit.

When Jim Williams modifies 460s, he changes a lot of the innards.  He recommends a 100 hour break in period for the new parts.   Schoeps may due a burn in test at the factory though, so I cannot really make a recommendation.
