CA-9100 ... When should I use the high-pass filter?

I just got my 9100 from Chris and will take it for its maiden voyage at Bonnaroo.  My question, though, is this:

When should I turn the high-pass filter on?  Is this the same thing as a 'fixed' bass roll-off circuit?

AFAIK yes it is. I have never used it nad it is not needed imo. Im using metal/rock shows which usually have a very hefty bass, taping with AT U853s and a 3 wire box it was never necessary. If you use the CA cards then I would not use the filter either, especially outdoors.

When using omnidirectional mics at mindfreaking loud bassy shows, the HPF(bass-roll off) might be an advantage.
AFAIK the roll off is at 80Hz (6 or 12dB).
