I've changed my rig and am thinking about going with a lighter-duty stand, the 17' Bogen 3076. Just wanted to confirm that there are 1/4-20 threads on top and that the footprint is adjustable. If anyone has one to sell, I might go used. Thanks,

i have a bogen 3076 and i'm not sure i'd call it a light-duty stand. it's got a huge footprint which makes it a pain to use unless you've got a big area or don't open up the legs. it's a nice, well built stand but it might not be exactly what you're looking for, i know i only use mine when stack taping dmb.

According to specs on the Bogen and B&H sites, the 3076 weighs 4.3 lbs. and supports 3 lbs. My current Bogen 3364 13' stand weighs 4.7 lbs. and supports 20 lbs. I figure I get the extra height and less weight. Right?

the first stand i used was the 17' one. Its way too tall. you most likely wont ever need to go the full 17 feet up unless you plan on taping birds in tall trees. i have the 13foot one now and thats perfect. I usually dont even go the full 13.

I'm thinking of selling my 17' to pick up a 13'. I just never go that high...

Nick, re: the footprint, are both the legs and leg supports adjustable? They are on the 3364, so I can slide the collar with the leg supports up the tube and end up with a much smaller footprint than when the leg supports are perpendicular to the tube. If the 3076 won't do that, then I guess I need to keep looking or just keep my stand.

Yea, I usually don't go much over 10' with my current stand. I do attend an outdoor festival every year, and the extra height at the main stage would be helpful. If the 3076 is actually lighter than my 3364, and the legs/leg supports are adjustable (see previous post), then it just makes sense to get the extra flexibility.

the one thing that the 17' is great for is I leave it all collapsed and tape it to seats in arenas...no need to open the legs. The other bogen I have does not sit flat if I do that....but everyone here is right, you will not run at 17', so the height isnt a benefit, but the way it sits on the ground is for me.

yah saw this and had a similar reaction- where are the stacks if you are running at 17'? i remember running at 12-14' with my TLM 170s on that stand.... never have i been so worried about my stand :-)

1. Does the top stud have 1/4-20 threads? (Bogen site indicates yes, but specs are always subject to change)
2. Are either/both legs and leg supports adjustable along the bottom tube? Would like to narrow the footprint, but I can't tell from pics if the 3076 works like my 3364.
I'll be taping at a festival where I'll be 100' back from the stage and the bottom of the stacks are at least 10' off the ground. Could use the extra height to cut down on crowd noise. Thanks,

I've seen 3373's with either 1/4" and 5/8" studs on top, so...if I was buying one, no one in the field would actually know which I was getting. Best bet is to contact the vendor directly instead of taking us schmucks' word for it.
2. Are either/both legs and leg supports adjustable along the bottom tube? Would like to narrow the footprint, but I can't tell from pics if the 3076 works like my 3364.
Dunno as I don't have this stand.
