Idea on possible mic issue
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:34:20 PM »
Hey all,

I had an issue at a show last weekend that I think I know the cause but not sure.  I had one of my levels on my iriver about 1/2 way up, while it was quiet.  This turned out to be like a crackle/buzz.  If I switched the cable inputs in the UA5, the issue switched channels.  After the first band played, I replaced the mic cable with one the sound guy gave me, but it was still there.  I then turned my stereo bar, very slightly, and the problem disappeared.  The next two bands came out perfect.

The next day I setup my rig to try to reproduce the issue.  What I found was the one of my mic capsules was very loose.  I tightened the capsule, and can not reproduce the problem.

Is it possible that a loose capsule would cause an issue like this?

Thanks
